RELEASE 1.1 DiskMaster
Copyright 1985 by Robert W. Lennox
The DISKMASTER utility prints diskette labels on 5" x 1 7/16" label
stock. This size label just fits on the top of a standard 5 1/4 inch
diskette. The program supports EPSON,IBM and OKIDATA printers with plug
'n play. Many options are provided. The next few screens describe them.
FUNCTION KEYS -
F1 - May be pressed at any time to access the help function. EXIT
from HELP returns to the program where you left off.
F2 - Allows the user to change system defaults. The defaults are
further described in subsequent HELP screens.
F3 - Reads the directory from the disk in the default drive. NOTE
that some diskettes have unreadable directories.
FUNCTION KEYS (cont) -
F4 - Save comment line #3 to DMASTER.CMT file. This file is auto-
matically read at start of job if that option is chosen.
F5 - Print diskette label for information currently entered and re-
trieved from disk.
F6 - Clears all non-default data from the screen. This is a good
way to "start over".
FUNCTION KEYS (cont) -
F7 - Exit from HELP. This key is only active when you are in HELP.
F10 - Exit to DOS.
DISK MASTER FILES
Several files are used by this program. If you have a hard disk you
should load the entire distribution disk to a sub-directory on the
the hard disk. No copy protection scheme is used so you should copy
as follows:
A>COPY *.* C:\[directory name] /V
DISK MASTER FILES (cont.)
If you have a two drive floppy disk system make a copy of the dis-
tribution diskette using DISKCOPY. Do not place a write protect tab
on the copy since the program must write on the disk when running.
If you have a single diskette system make a copy as described above.
Place the copy in drive A and start the program. When requested,
put the disk to be read in A. Place the system disk back after read.
OPTIONS
DEFAULT DRIVE - The drive letter of the diskette drive the system
will use to read the directory of the disk to be labeled. If you
have a single diskette system this should be "A". If you have a
a two diskette drive system this should be "B".
OPTIONS (cont.)
READ COMMENT - Comment line #3 is special. It can be automatically
read (DMASTER.CMT) and loaded on the screen each time the system
the program is started. Allowed valued are YES or NO. You may make
changes to comment line #3 permanent by keying a new comment #3
line and pressing F4.
OPTIONS (cont.)
PRINTER - Three printers are supported. The name of the printer used
must be supplied in this field. EPSON, IBM and OKIDATA with plug
'n play are supported. If your printer has control codes compatible
with one of these printers type in the name of that printer. You
must enter ESPON if you have an OKIDATA with plug 'n play. To use
another printer obtain the source code and "do it yourself".
OPTIONS (cont.)
DEFAULT NUMBERING - The system allows you to specify a starting num-
ber that will be printer on the diskette label. Following printing
the number will be incremented by one and rewritten to the disk.
The number can be reset at any time to any number by choosing F2.
